Geoffrey Beene - CELINE AW13

I have mixed feelings about this design (2nd photo). We can clearly see where Phoebe Philo got her inspiration from; and there is nothing wrong with that but her version almost looks like a replica of Beene's which I think was just too easy to copy; however she has added a touch of versatility and functionality in her design as it can be worn as either a cape or coat. Notwithstanding I like how the design evolved into dress and there is the possibility that she could be paying tributes to Geoffrey Beene's (1924- 2004) creation as he was indeed a very talented designer who nurtured Alber Elbaz's career.
